The small constellation, Lyra, takes its name from a musical instrument. At its head is one of the brightest starts in the sky. If you were to gaze into the summer night sky, searching for Lyra, you would only find it by its brilliant principal star.

Just as we are musical instruments in God’s symphony of creation, we are known not by any brightness of our own. We are small, after all. But we are known by the light of God’s one son. He is the bright morning star and the reason we have a joyful dance.

This year, Timbrel School of Dance presents three new dance companies that, through the art of dance, seek to reflect the perfect light of the truth of Christ.

If you are longing to grow and reflect the light of the Savior through dance, please find out how you can be a part of Lyra Dance Companies.

Timbrel Dance Company is now Lyra Dance Company and is by invitation only. The two new companies are open to students who desire to participate. Lyra II is for dancers age 10 and up. Lyra Apprentice is for ages 6 – 9. Lyra dancers will commit to participating in classes and performances. In addition, members of the Lyra Dance Companies will be able to attend various workshops (not required).

Parents: there will be informational parent meetings the last 15 minutes of all ballet classes from January 26 – 29. Please attend if you have questions about this exciting new opportunity at Timbrel School of Dance.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday! The spring semester will begin Tuesday, January 5th, 2010. Please be sure to have all account balances paid in full or make payment arrangements before the first day of classes. Students will not be allowed to begin classes until accounts are reconciled.

The 2009- 2010 recital date is set for Saturday, May 15th. Dress rehearsal will be Friday, May 14th. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

Dance Revolution 08/09 has come and gone, but the impact made upon nine dancers from Timbrel School of Dance will last a lifetime! If you were unable to attend this incredible weekend, please make plans now for the 09/10 Tour. You won’t be disappointed.

Dance Revolution Tour will come to Dallas Nov. 20-22, 2009. To attend, sign up by Oct. 18. Cost will be: $140 for apprentice (ages 6-9) and $150 for juniors (ages 9-12) and seniors (ages 13 and up). $30 for observer registration.

Dance Revoution is an awesome, faith-based dance event that is inspiring, powerful, life changing – where God is the focus. Timbrel School of Dance has attended the Dance Revolution tour for years and has even had Dance Revolution faculty host special workshops at Timbrel.
