About Timbrel School of Dance
About Timbrel
Dance is about much more than just entertainment – it’s about who you are. It gives shape, form, and movement to the spirit and heart inside.
Like any art form, dance is meant to be felt as well as seen – it is as much expression as it is performance. Artistic technique and competency are the foundation. And, just as with any form of art, the core of the expression is the identity within.
Timbrel School Of Dance was founded on a deep faith in Christ and the strong desire to worship and glorify the Lord and Creator through art.
We offer instruction in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical and Jazz and Irish Step for students ages 3 and up.
About the Director
Beth Wood began her dance training at age 3 and danced locally with Bonetta Ramsel and the Academy of Dance Arts. She studied dance performance at Oklahoma City University under Jo Rowan. During this time, she also studied under Lynn Cramer, Liz Nelson, Nikki Singer, and many other top professionals.
Beth was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company of Oklahoma City, and a pep dancer for the OCU Chiefs. She has attended numerous conventions and competitions as both a student and as an instructor and choreographer. She was also one of the first students in the United States to complete level seven of the Al Gilbert graded tap method. She has been teaching dance professionally since 1996, and has former students that have continued on to a professional dance career.
She was also a prizewinner-ranked competitive Irish dancer with Hibernia School of Irish Dance under the instruction of Erin Reid. She competed in feisanna in Texas, Memphis, and Little Rock.
Beth has also continued her education by attending teacher workshops and intensives at OCU and Ad Deum Dance Company of Houston, and studying with Paul Taylor, Hosanna Sacred Arts, staff from Bellhaven College, Inlet Dance Company, and Ballet Magnificat.
Timbrel School of Dance attends Dance Revolution annually. Dance Revolution hosts faith-based dance events that are inspiring, powerful, life changing, and where God is the focus. Find out more at: dance-revolution.com.
About Hibernia School of Irish Dance
Irish dance classes at Timbrel are offered through the Hibernia School of Irish Dance under the direction of Erin Reid TCRG, certified step dance and céilí instructor.
The Hibernia School of Irish Dance offers an education, ranging from traditional to modern, in competitive solo and team Irish dancing. Instruction for less competitive dancers, seeking exercise or Irish culture, is also a part of the Hibernia School curriculum. Proper technique and practice are emphasized for serious and casual students alike.
It is the mission of the Hibernia School of Irish Dance to provide dynamic Irish dance training. Friendships, fond memories, discipline and teamwork are our goals. Competition is encouraged for the benefit of the training process: to teach a dancer to set goals and to prepare to perform his or her best. Our students are trained to participate in the categorical levels of Irish dance, marking their individual and team progress and achievements. When Hibernia students compete, they are taught to win and lose with grace, and to learn from every step of the journey; a journey that may lead to a neighboring town or to the world stage.
