Policies & Guidelines
CLASS ATTIRE
For Ballet Classes:
Pink ballet slippers, black leotards, and pink tights
For Jazz Classes:
Tan jazz shoes and any color leotard, tights, or dance outfit
For Lyrical Classes:
Foot thongs, black leotard, and pink tights
For Irish Classes:
T-shirt and shorts with ghillies and/or hard shoes
For Hip Hop Classes:
Clean non-marking tennis shoes and comfortable clothing – no jeans
For Tap Classes:
Black tap oxford shoes and any color leotard, tights, or dance outfit
For Theater Classes:
Black ballet shoes and any color leotard, tights, or dance outfit
Long hair should be worn in a bun for ballet classes and a ponytail for all other classes . Short hair should be pulled back securely away from the face. No excessive jewelry. Skirts are not preferred.
CLASS ATTIRE FOR BOYS
For Ballet, Jazz, Theater, and Irish Classes:
Athletic shorts or sweatpants, t-shirt, and black canvas jazz shoes
For Hip Hop Classes:
Clean non-marking tennis shoes and comfortable clothing – no jeans
ATTENDANCE
A contract will be required at the beginning of each semester stating that you intend to participate during that 4 – 6 month period.
Students are required to sign in at the beginning of each class. Students present but not signed in will be counted as absent.
To promote responsible participatory behavior, awards will be given at the end of the year for perfect attendance.
If a student is not able to attend a class, please call ahead of time and notify the school.
A student that has missed a class may make up that absence in another class, but must arrange make-up classes by calling the school ahead of time.
Due to recital preparation more than two absences after January 8 may require a scheduled make-up class.
GENERAL RULES
Water is allowed only in the dressing area (not in the class room) and only on breaks. No gum, food, or candy is allowed during class.
Students should arrive five minutes prior to class start and be changed and ready by class time.
Students will not be allowed outside of the facility until their approved transportation has arrived. Students should carry a dance bag for change of shoes and clothes. The student’s name should be on all belongings (including dance bag).
Disruptive, disturbing, or disrespectful behavior from a student will result in that student being dismissed from class.
PERFORMANCES
The performance of The Nutcracker…Revisited will be held on December 11, 2010. There is a $15 per student performance fee that is due by November 5, 2010. Each student will receive 2 complementary admission tickets. Additional tickets will be $5 each, available in advance or at the door.
The annual student recital will be held on May 21, 2011. There is a $45 per student recital fee that is due by Jan 12, 2010. For families with more than one student, the first student’s recital fee is $45, but $25 per student for each additional student. Admission to the student recital is free to audience members.
Rehearsal dates and details for both performances will be availble closer to performace dates. All students participating in the recital are required to attend all rehearsals. A signed performance contract will be required for participation in each performance.
PARENTS GUIDELINES
Observers may view class from the lobby window when the blinds are opened. Please be respectful of the students and refrain from communicating with them or distracting and disrupting the class.
If you desire to talk to the director concerning a student, class, or concern, please set up a conference time by calling or emailing. Please do not disrupt class time.
TUITION
All tuition payments are due at the beginning of the month. All checks should be made payable to Timbrel School Of Dance. Tuition due dates will be posted in the lobby of Timbrel.
A missed class will not result in a decrease in the monthly tuition.
